Jubilee Dinner in the House of Food
On Wednesday 25 November 2009, RKK celebrated itself in the company of many invited guests, the RKK board and staff. The jubilee dinner was held in the fine new Måltidets Hus (House of Food) at Ullandhaug, Stavanger.
RKK is 20 years old this year, 2009, and thought this occasion merited a proper celebration. Close on 60 guests assembled to enjoy a splendid banquet, with ingredients selected from Rogaland County’s rich larder. The food was prepared by some of the best chefs in the country, with Andreas Myrvold at their head, from the Gastronomic Institute.
Those present included Tom Tvedt, Chairman of the County Council, the County Education Director, head teachers from some of the country’s upper secondary schools, former members of the RKK Board and representatives from the social partners (Trade Unions and Norwegian Enterprise). There were also representatives from some of the organizations we cooperate with, guests from BI Norwegian School of Management, Deloitte, Greater Stavanger, Innovation Norway, Ipark, NPD, PETRAD, Seadrill, Statoil, Stavanger Chamber of Commerce and the University of Stavanger.
RKK’s Namibia office, which opened earlier this autumn, was represented by General Manager Carl Williams and his wife Chaine.
The jubilee dinner was a fine and well-orchestrated event. The evening’s formalities were opened by RKK’s Managing Director, Ole Imsland, in the auditorium, before we made our way to the beautifully-lit foyer. Deputy Chairman of the RKK Board, Janne Johnsen, acted as Master of Ceremonies for the formal part of the dinner. Many fine speeches were given, there was a congratulatory telegram from the Chargè d`Affaires in the Kazakstani Embassy in Norway and, of course, good food and drink.
The dinner started with 2 songs and concluded with a mini-concert by our fine local artist, Randi Tytingvåg.
In 2009 RKK marks its 20-year anniversary. The occasion will be duly observed together with our close partners. Kjeragbolten, the boulder strikingly lodged in a crevice of the Kjerag mountains, has been chosen as the emblem for our jubilee since it is a particular icon of our region.
