Mozambique

The Republic of Mozambique or Moçambique (Portuguese: República de Moçambique) is a country in southeastern Africa. It is bordered by South Africa and Swaziland to the southwest, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi to the west and Tanzania to the north. Mozambique has a land area about 2.5 times bigger than that of Norway.

More than 75% of the population are engaged in small-scale farming, which still suffers from lack of infrastructure, commercial networks and investment. Approximately 88% of Mozambique’s arable land remains uncultivated.

The capital is Maputo and the official language is Portuguese. The country has a population of 21 million.
