MAPESS-RKK project management visit FMC trainees in Luanda, Angola
14 September 2011
On September 1st 2011, representatives from MAPESS-RKK project management and CINFOTEC visited the first project trainees at the FMC site in Sonils Base, Luanda. The first round of Hydraulics and Welding courses ended in July, and FMC enrolled 10 welding and 1 hydraulic student through the project’s trainee programme. The students started their traineeship at FMC on July 18th, and will remain at FMC for their practical training for the duration of 3 months.
The type of welding performed by FMC (orbital welding) is quite unique in Angola. The students were first given classroom teaching followed by practical training on FMC's assembly line whilst the hydraulic student primarily gets her training in the maintenance department. The trainees felt that they had been very well received by FMC and were eager to gain professional experience and an opportunity to demonstrate their skills to a potential employer.
Project Deputy Director, Anita Rapp together with project trainees at FMC Domingos da Conceição João Gaspar, welding instructor at CINFOTEC, given an introduction on the orbital welding machine by an FMC worker
