First oil & gas drilling course in Namibia ever celebrated!
On 9th September, an official graduation ceremony of the first theory of oil and gas drilling training in Namibia was held in Swakopmund.
The Drilling Introduction Course is an IADC (International Association of Drilling Contractors) certified course, and was conducted in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
RKK and UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research) signed on 30th August 2010 a partnership agreement on capacity building and training for Africa.
RKK has through this agreement undertaken the responsibility for training a number of Nigerians to an agreed competence which is required for an internally qualified work force in Nigeria.
RKK Namibia, under the leadership of the Director Mr. Carl Williams, have had the responsibility to train 23 trainees from Nigeria to be trained within the trade of Oil and Gas Drilling for highly qualified work on Nigerian offshore installations.
This was a pilot training program offered by RKK in Namibia together with our Namibian training partner NAMFI (Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute) and international training partners AKELA and Ocean Marine Training.

On 09 September 2011, at the Seaside Hotel and Spa in Swakopmund, a graduation ceremony of the first trainees in the Drilling Introduction Course was held.
According to the Minister’s speech, “The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources wholeheartedly salutes the Maritime and Fisheries Training Institution and RKK Namibia for this significant initiative to train the students in this field as we are all aware that the labour force is still in need of qualified personnel with adequate skills. I would like to state that this vocational course will be very vital for Namibians as well since it target to assist government to alleviate vocational skills shortage.”
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources (represented by Honourable Councilor Ndemula), by His Excellency the High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Sunday George Samson, by RKK Managing Director Mr. Ole Imsland amongst other distinguished guests.
