"From Farm to Table" project in cooperation with the Akmolinsk region of Kazakhstan
08 June 2010
A project group from RKK comprising Magnus Mathiesen, Roar Haaland and Kjell Håvard Sævareid conducted a planning and research visit last week to the Akmolinsk region of Kazakhstan, in connection with the project entitled "From Farm to Table". This pre-study was set up on the initiative of the RoK Ministry of Education and Science in close cooperation with the Akmolinsk regional authorities.
The group visited a number of upper secondary schools/colleges and social partners in and around the regional centre Koksetau in the Akmolinsk region in northern Kazakhstan. This region is the second largest agricultural and tourist area in Kazakhstan. One of the visits was to a farm with 190 000 hectares of land and 600 dairy cows, soon to be doubled to 1200.
The visit concluded with a "workshop" where plans for the next phase of the project were drawn up.
